The Vagus Nerve: The Key To Well-being

The vagus nerve is the longest and most complex of the 12 cranial nerves that provides a two-way communication between the brain and major systems/organs in your body and plays a very important role in your autonomic nervous system. More precisely, it is the main component of the parasympathetic nervous system (aka your rest & digest response).

 

Having 'low vagal tone' (a well-known cause of stress) means that the vagus nerve isn't functioning properly. This can then lead to anxiety, depression, inflammation, tension, voice problems, and many other health issues.

The good news is that you can train the vagus nerve to get it stronger!

 

Stimulating the vagus nerve can increase vagal tone, helping you to bring your mind, body and nervous system in a state of calm and relaxation. Let me introduce myself...

Hi, my name is Maartje Monné, I’m Dutch and live in the South of France since 2010. I live there with my French husband, two boys Lucas (2012) & Tim (2017) and my cat.

 

I’m fascinated by the voice since I was little: Remember Disneys ‘The Little Mermaid’ & ‘The Sound of Music’, that’s where it all began.... :-)

As a Voice Therapist (SLP) and Psycho-Energetic Therapist (and thanks to my own life challenges) I discovered that the voice, besides being an important (artistic) expression and communication tool, can also be seen as a powerful and playful built-in healing tool that can massage your body from the inside out and help to improve your health and well-being in so many ways.

 

My (soul) mission?: To learn/help you strengthen your vagus nerve, improve and empower your voice, regulate your nervous system, and to rewrite your story so that you'll become happier, healthier and the best version of yourself!
